An art project born from the fascination for mycelium

“This project stems from the fascination with mycelium, a life form more close to humans than what we think. In some cases the aesthetics itself confirms this assumptions. For example fungi breathe oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide, just as we do. During my reserarch on Mycelium design at Mediamatic I had the plasure to see also some Oysteratus Spirĭtus, a rare species of fungi which shape seems to mimic group of noses. This mushroom was very popular in China as medicinal mushroom, but due to the recently increased air pollution in the country is now disappearing. This mushroom is considered a bio-indicator of the air quality because it fructifies only in clean air conditions..”

I performed Mushumans in 2014, in the little AstaroTheatro, Amsterdam
