Mycelium design research at the cultural institution Mediamatic, based in Amsterdam

In 2014 started my fascination for biomaterials, so I decided to join a mycelium design research at the  cultural institution Mediamatic, based in Amsterdam.
There I worked in a very nice team, focusing in designing a way to insulate an old barn with mycelium panels produced on the spot with a low budget laboratory and a DIY approach. I rediscovered mushroom as a life form and how amazing can be mycelium based materials (sustainable, efficient, performative are only few qualities), I learned the basics to work in a science lab and  grow mycelium. Since that experience my interest in biomaterials has grown over time and I’m still exploring differents “life forms” and other sustainable materials to get inspired and and to evaluate their potentiality in design.
